Katonah Group Offers Viewings Of Oscar-Nominated Short Films
KATONAH, N.Y. -- With this year's Academy Awards approaching, the Katonah Village Improvement Society (KVIS) is offering screenings of short films that have been nominated.
The first screening, which will feature live-action Oscar shorts will take place on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Katonah Village Library. The second, which will feature animated shorts, will take place on Friday, Feb. 24, with the time starting time and location.
Tickets can be purchased for $15 each on KVIS' website or for $20 at the door.

Be Like Cupid With Gift Giving To Pound Ridge Seniors
POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- For Valentine's Day season, Pound Ridgers are invited to volunteer and bring gifts to the town's senior citizens.
The annual drive, known as Project Pound Ridge Cupid, urges participants to make homemade baked goods, such as cookies and cupcakes, along with cards, and deliver them to recipients.
The drive, which is under the auspices of the Neighbor to Neighbor Youth Corps, will take place on Sunday, Feb. 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The gifts must be dropped off at Conant Hall between 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., an event notice states.

Lewisboro Holding Cancer-Fighting 'Relay For Life' Event
Hundreds, if not thousands, of folks will be lacing up their running shoes this spring all over Westchester to help fight a deadly disease.
The American Cancer Society says that 13 Relay for Life events have been scheduled for May 20 through June 19.
The community-led events will be held in: Eastchester, Mamaroneck, Chappaqua, Harrison, Katonah-Lewisboro, the Tarrytowns, Yorktown, Yonkers, Somers, Ossining and the Hendrick Hudson School District.
The two college sponsored ones – for students, staff and alumni – will be held at Iona College and Pace University.

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Bakers, judges and tasters, sharpen your sweet tooths; the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance’s Valentine Cookie Competition is about to begin.
Well, actually, you still have plenty of time to shop for cinnamon, flour, chocolate and sprinkles; the bake-off isn’t going down until Sunday, Feb. 12.
Contestants will be able to show off their own creations, or trot out old family favorites, but even if you’re not a baker, there’s plenty of fun to be had.
