Woman From Region Runs Over Kitten On Purpose, Police Say
A Connecticut woman is accused of allegedly running over a kitten on purpose after she dumped a cat and the kitten in a busy shopping center parking lot, police say. Hartford County resident Ana Rodriguez, age 65, of New Britain, turned herself in to Southington Police on Friday, May 3, for the Monday, April 15 incident. According to Lt. Keith Egan of the Southington Police, officers responded to the Walmart parking lot that had dropped off a cat and a kitten in the parking lot and then ran over the kitten. Man Stabbed On Worcester Sidewalk, Police Searching For Suspect
A man was hospitalized on Thursday, May 2, after being stabbed on a sidewalk in Worcester, police said. A Worcester officer was flagged down just after 3:30 p.m. in the area of lower Chandler Street to a report of assault with a dangerous weapon. The victim was found sprawled out on the sidewalk and bleeding from his wound. The officer provided medical aid until paramedics arrived and rushed the man to an area hospital. His condition was not released. Investigators ask anyone with information on the attack to contact detectives at 508-799-8651.

Western Mass Sex Offender Gets 10 Years For Child Porn
A Berkshire County registered sex offender will return to prison after admitting to having child sexual abuse material and an illegal shotgun, federal authorities said. Brian Hohman, 60, of Sandisfield, pleaded guilty in January to one charge of possession of child pornography and one charge of receipt and possession of an unregistered firearm, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. A 75-year-old man has admitted to beating a 10-year-old Hampden County girl with a rock and leaving her to drown in a river in Western Massachusetts. Donald Mars, of Bedford, pleaded guilty Thursday, May 2, to manslaughter after he was indicted in the 1966 murder of Betty Lou Zukowski, the Hampden County District Attorney said. Remains Of Woman Found In Western Mass Woods Identified After 35 Years
The remains of a 65-year-old woman whose body was found in a wooded area in Franklin County have been identified thanks to new advancements in DNA testing. How she ended up there remains a mystery, but prosecutors have a person of interest. Constance Holminski Bassignani was found not far off the road on Route 76 in Warwick on June 24, 1989. The former superindentent of a Hampden County school district will avoid jail time for lying to FBI agents about sending nearly 100 threatening messages to a candidate for Chicopee police chief, authorities said. A 31-year-old Worcester County man was identified as the driver killed when he lost control of his truck and was T-boned by oncoming traffic in a Needham crash this week, police said. Dylan Chaves, of Fiskdale, was driving his pick-up truck south on I-95 just after 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, when the vehicle lost traction and turned sideways into the left lane of oncoming traffic, State police said. A driver who crashed into a Worcester County home earlier this week had been shot before the crash, authorities said.
