Two Long Island men were arrested after police allegedly discovered they were swiping copper wire from their employer. Nassau County Police Department received notification of the theft from a company in Jericho between Wednesday, May 15, and Thursday, May 16. The report indicated that a burglar had stolen copper wire from Getty Terminal Corp, located at 125 Jericho Turnpike. Police are asking for the community’s assistance in locating two people who they say stole mail from a Long Island post office. It happened on Monday, May 13 in Manhasset, Nassau County Police said. A death investigation is underway in Harrisburg where police found a body in the roadway on Friday, May 17, police said. A bicyclist was killed in a crash on Black Horse Pike on Friday, May 17, police said. Arthur Herz, 61, of Mays Landing entered the westbound lanes on a bicycle around 8:20 p.m. just after 8:20 p.m. when he was "made impact with" a 21-year-old man's Jeep Cherokee, Hamilton Township police said. Two Jersey City police officers and at least one civilian were injured in a crash that sent a cruiser into a fire hydrant. The vehicles collided at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Stegman Street at 11:15 a.m. Friday, May 17, according to Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione. Body Recovered After Person Jumps From Bear Mountain Bridge
A body was recovered after a person jumped from the Bear Mountain Bridge. The incident happened around 1 p.m. Friday, May 17. The body of the victim was recovered from the Hudson River near Stony Point, according to Trooper A.J. Hicks of the New York State Police. The identity of the person has not yet been released.
