Muscoot Farmers Market: 10 a.m. To 3 p.m. Welcome back the Muscoot Farmers Market, where you’ll find produce, meat, baked goods, prepared foods, honey, lavender, sauces, pasta, milk, cheese, olive oil, gluten-free items, soap and more. The market will be open every Sunday through October. It’s at Muscoot Farm, Route 100 about a mile south of Route 35 in Somers.
Meet the Baby Animals: 1 to 3 p.m. Spring brought us warmer weather and lots of baby animals. Members of the 4H Club will be on hand to introduce them and tell you all about them. It’s at Muscoot Farm, Route 100 about a mile south of Route 35 in Somers.
Sketching Safari: 9 a.m. to noon. Wildlife artist Alison Nicholls will talk about her challenges while sketching wildlife in the field and will offer tips and oversee your own sketches as you try your hand with the ambassador wolves. The program is recommended for people 13 years of age and older. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $60. It’s at South Salem’s Wolf Conservation Center at 7 Buck Run St., South Salem.
Monday, May 27 - Memorial Day
Memorial Day Races in Lewisboro: All morning, beginning at 8 a.m. (registration starts at 7 a.m.) It’s the annual series of Memorial Day Races, proceeds of which go to the Forever Molly and Gregory Fund, in memory of the late Molly and Gregory Friedlander and their late mother, Amy. Among the races are a 10K, 5K, Mile Fun Run and Pee Wee Race. All events begin at Lewisboro Town Hall, 11 Main St., South Salem.
Goldens Bridge Parade: 11 a.m. American Legion paraders will gather at 10:45 to march from the MetroNorth parking lot to the Goldens Bridge Community House, where services will begin at 11 a.m. Refreshments will be served afterwards, courtesy of the Goldens Bridge Fire Department. The Community House is at 65 Old Bedford Road, Goldens Bridge.
Lewisboro Parade: 12:15 p.m. Paraders will gather at 11:45 a.m. on Lake Shore Drive at the south end of Truesdale Lake and proceed at 12:15 p.m. to the Town House, 11 Main St. Music and speeches will follow the arrival of the paraders, who will be welcomed by Supervisor Peter Parsons.
Pound Ridge Parade: noon. The Memorial Day events will begin with ceremonies at Burial Hill in Pound Ridge, followed by a free barbecue with music by the Bear Cats Dixieland band in the Town Park on Westchester Avenue, across the street from Burial Hill.
North Salem Parade: 10 a.m. People marching in the Memorial Day parade will gather at Oak Ridge Road and Route 116 between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and will head for the Veterans’ Memorial at the Westchester Exceptional Children’s School, Route 22, Purdys, where there will be speeches and ceremonies.
Fife & Drum at the Aldrich: 1 to 5 p.m. Ridgefield’s Aldrich Museum will open an exhibition of works by its first artist-in-residence, Allison Smith. Titled “Rudiments of Fife & Drum,” the works explore American history in regard to handcraft, national identity and social and political activism. See the exhibition, meet the artist, enjoy family activities, music, all sorts of food and a guided tour. The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is at 258 Main St., Ridgefield.
