A judge in Hackensack ordered 27-year-old Shara Goldstein of River Edge held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail on charges of child abuse and endangerment.

Woodcliff Lake police were alerted last month by the state Department of Children and Families Institutional Abuse Investigation Unit following complaints about Goldstein at KinderCare Learning Center on Chestnut Ridge Road.

Goldstein "was observed on numerous occasions during December 2015 mistreating several students, all under the age of two years, while they were in her care," . Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.

"The mistreatment included incidents of [Goldstein] pushing children to the floor, throwing objects at children and dropping children," he said.

Four victims were identified during an investigation by his Special Victims Unit and borough police, the prosecutor said. None were seriously injured, he said.

Goldstein was scheduled for an initial appearance in Pascack Joint Muncipal Court this coming Wednesday.

On her online resume, Goldstein lists previous jobs with the New Jersey Children's Museum in Paramus and the Temple Emeth Early Childhood Center in Teaneck and Montclair. It says she has worked at KinderCare the past 2½ years.
