Police told the Ridgefield Press that the accident took place on Monday, June 26, at the intersection of Barrack Hill Road and Pin Pack Road when 55-year-old Robert Steel failed to grant the right of way to a 28-year-old driver form Illinois.

Steel's car collided with the front of the 28-year-old's, causing the other car to roll over, according to the Ridgefield Press. Steel then fled the scene of the accident, the Ridgefield Press reported.

The Illinois driver, as well as a 31-year-old man and an 87-year-old man who were passengers in his car, were all taken to the hospital following the crash, according to the Ridgefield Press. A fence and wall on Barrack Hill Road were also damaged, according to the Ridgefield Press.

Police were able to track down Steel and take him into custody, the Ridgefield Press reported. He was charged with evading the scene of an accident, interfering with an officer and failure to grant the right of way, and was released on a $2,500 bond, the Ridgefield Press reported.
