Ritchey was on patrol in South Salem when the resident waved him down and explained that her father had been mowing the lawn and simply “dropped.”
The officer called for emergency services and then checked the man's pulse and found none. Ritchey used a defibrillator on the man, which seemed to revive him, and then used a breath ventilation mask to help him breathe.
Paramedics arrived, the victim was placed in an ambulance, and taken Norwalk Hospital by the Vista Fire Department. Police Chief Frank Secret said, "We're very proud of him. He saved a man's life."
The Lewisboro police also reported the following incidents:
- A driver stopped for speeding on Route 121 in Cross River Thursday afternoon was issued an appearance ticket for marijuana possession and issued a summons for speeding in a school zone, according to a police report. The officer who stopped the driver smelled marijuana in the car, and a search of the car yielded a marijuana cigarette and loose stash of marijuana, the report said.
- A Oakridge Commons girl who had just gotten off the bus was approached by a stranger who offered her a ride home, according to a police report. The girl ran home and told her mother, who notified police. The stranger was driving a dark-colored vehicle and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, the report said. Police were unable to locate the vehicle, but the owner of the Getty Station told police that he had seen a similar car driven by someone matching the girl’s description of the stranger, according to the report. The investigation is continuing, the report said.
- A woman driving north on Route 35 in Goldens Bridge on Saturday afternoon reported a road rage incident to police. She told police she was being tailgated by a black Jeep, which followed her onto I-684 northbound. The driver pulled up alongside of her and screamed obscenities, according to the police report. She made a note of the license plate number, got off at Exit 6A and reported the incident to Lewisboro police. A check of the plate number did not identify the vehicle, but police said they are keeping a record of the incident on file.
- A large party resulted in a parking complaint to the police Sunday, according to a police report. The Garden Conservancy’s Open House at the White Garden on Elmwood Road drew a large number of vehicles – approximately 200. When police responded to a complaint about congestion and parking, the White Garden’s property manager agreed to provide someone to supervise parking.
