The crash, which occurred around 9:30 p.m., left the vehicle smoking on its side, Chief Avery Scott said.
The lone occupant of the vehicle was outside the vehicle when firefighters arrived and was treated by Westchester EMS, Scott said.
The crew from Rescue 21 secured the vehicle and stemmed the flow of fluids, while the crew from Engine 166 stood by ready to suppress any fire as a precaution.
Scott said firefighters also used thermal imaging cameras to check the area to make sure that no one else had been in the vehicle and no potential fires were about to start due to vehicle debris spread throughout the area.
Route 35 was shut down and traffic was diverted around Spring Street South for almost two hours.
