LEWISBORO, N.Y. - Hurricane Sandy knocked out power for almost all customers in Lewisboro as of Tuesday morning, according to New York State Electric and Gas reports.
An estimated 5,448 out of 5,461 NYSEG customers in Lewisboro were without power 9 a.m. Tuesday. It’s unclear when customers can expect power to return.
The National Weather Service has downgraded Sandy to a post-tropical cyclone, but the storm is still producing sustained winds up to 65 mph according to the NWS 5 a.m. update. A wind advisory is still in effect for Westchester County until 6 p.m. Tuesday. Weather officials said the brunt of the storm hit the area Monday night, but additional power outages could occur throughout Tuesday.

Original Story LEWISBORO, N.Y. – New York State Electric & Gas is reporting that as of 4:30 p.m. Monday, 2,172 of its 5,461 Lewisboro customers had lost power due to high winds generated by the approaching Hurricane Sandy.
Most of the outages – slightly more than 1,600 – are in the hamlet of South Salem. The most severely affected areas include East Street with 87 outages, Smith Ridge Road with 70, Fox Run with 66, Twin Lakes with 65, Cover Road with 55 and Main Street with 44.
According to NYSEG, some streets may have power restored as early as 7 p.m. Monday.
