To the Editor;
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to those who helped as our area was hit first by Hurricane Sandy and then, just a short time later, by winter storm Athena.
First, to the public: Thank you for your cooperation, your patience and your support. It made it much easier for us to do our jobs in helping those who needed it most. We in this area should truly consider ourselves fortunate. As I write this letter, there are still thousands without power and many who have no homes to return to.
A huge thank-you to all those who assisted with the effects of both storms – first responders from the Vista, South Salem, and Goldens Bridge fire departments, as well the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps; all those who volunteered to help, whether or not we had to call on you; Town of Lewisboro employees; New York State and Westchester County Offices of Emergency Management; utility crews, and the National Guard – your dedication, determination and motivation should be an inspiration to everyone. Your commitment and the long days you all put in, some taking absences from full-time jobs, is what helped make things happen.
On behalf of the Town of Lewisboro Office of Emergency Management, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all the men and women who worked hard to protect, secure and bring normalcy back to our town.
