The outing will begin promptly at 1 p.m. with a brief overview by a member of the Zofnass Family, who founded the preserve and led efforts to protect multiple parcels of land in the region. After the remarks, hikers will split into smaller groups according to distance and pace.

All hikes will begin and end at the Upper Shad Road trailhead.

“The Ramble provides people of all ages an opportunity to experience the cultural landscape of the Hudson River Valley by hiking a trail, visiting a historic site or paddling on the river and I thank all the participating agencies and organizations for offering such great events,” said Mark Castiglione, acting director of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and Greenway.

The Land Trust hike is a part of the 16th Annual Hudson River Valley Ramble, which features hundreds of events offered by more than 150 partner organizations. Events include walks, hikes, paddles and biking tours that showcase the scenic, natural, historic and cultural resources of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area. Ramble events are led by naturalists, ecologists, historians, geologists and experienced volunteers.
