Spring Hike Tops Ward Pound Ridge Reservation Events

CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- The Friends of Nature Museum and Ward Pound Ridge Reservation offers an array of spring programs in April at Routes 35/121, Cross River, N.Y.

Among highlights, on Sunday, April 3, an annual celebration to enjoy "winter’s sweet rewards" offers food, music, and sugaring demonstrations all day. For times, call (914) 864-7322.

Then on Saturday, April 9, a Vernal Pool Exploration is on tap so visitors can visit the woodland pools with dip nets to discover their inhabitants. The program starts at 1 p.m.

A Saturday, April 16 program at 1 p.m. called, Orienteering for Kids welcomes children, ages 10 to 12, to learn about orienteering and how to find "waypoints" on a trail.

Earth Day, April 30 will be celebrated at 1 p.m. with "Wild Edibles," an opportunity to join a naturalist to learn about some common spring wild edibles.
