Mancini, of Somers, is a project manager at a steel company in Stamford, Conn. He said he left work in the mid-afternoon, and that the main roads between work and home were passable. However, he said that some back roads were horrible.
Not many cars were on the road Monday afternoon, with most Westchester schools closed and many businesses closing early. Mancini stopped at CVS on his way home to pick up some basics before heading home and preparing for the rest of the week, which has more inclement weather in the forecast.
The snow that began early Monday morning and has continued without respite throughout the day is expected to taper off during the evening commute.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the low 30s this week as another storm approaches the Westchester area Tuesday night into Wednesday. Snow, freezing rain and sleet are all possible throughout the day Wednesday, making for a wintery mix. The National Weather service has already posted a Winter Storm Watch for Wed. from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Another storm may hit the area during the weekend, with a chance of snow forecast for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
“I hope it lets up soon,” Mancini said. “It’s been cold.”
