PAWLING, N.Y. -- Nic Bell, who has led the rise of Trinity-Pawling School's varsity boys lacrosse program, has accepted an offer from a rival school to join its faculty and take over its lacrosse program.

On Wednesday, May 24, the varsity teams at Trinity-Pawling (NY) and Taft (CT) ended their seasons against each other.

That scenario seems fitting considering Bell will join Taft as an English teacher and as its next head varsity lax coach, starting with the 2017-18 school year.

Bell serves as Trinity-Pawling's assistant director of college counseling, teaches in the English department and assists with JV football in addition to his lacrosse duties.

Bell, who was born and raised in rural northern Virginia where he was the first lacrosse All-American in Highland School history, was a two-sport varsity captain in basketball and lacrosse.

He went on to Brown University where he played lacrosse for four years and studied Modern American History and graduated in 2009. During his time at Brown, Bell also studied abroad in England at the London School of Economics. At Brown, he helped lead the team to their first NCAA tournament berth in over a decade and a 12-4 overall record his senior year.

Following Nic’s graduation from Brown, he went on to the Blue Ridge School outside of Charlottesville, VA.

Taft beat Trinity-Pawling 14-11 in last season's lacrosse finale to finish 2016 with a 15-3 record. Trinity-Pawling wrapped up the season at 12-4.
