Lewisboro Baseball Kicks Off Season

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Opening Day ceremonies, a Parade of Teams and a barbecue picnic on Saturday at Town Park will mark the start of the Lewisboro Baseball Association's 2012 season.

Last fall's storms wreaked havoc on the baseball field at Lewisboro Town Park. League President Greg LaSorsa said he was grateful for the work of town employees and volunteers to get the field in shape.

The traditional community barbecue picnic, which is open to the public, will be served by the Lewisboro Lions Club from noon to 1 p.m. The Parade of Teams will kick off the ceremonies at 1:15 p.m.

Team pictures will be taken throughout the morning, and games will be played throughout the day. Lewisboro Baseball Association merchandise and raffle tickets will be available. The raffle will be drawn during the ceremonies.

Honorees for this year include former Town Clerk Kathy Cory, a longtime member of the Lions Club, and former association board member Gene Lanza. A special presentation will be made by the Forever Molly and Gregory Fund, which is donating two defibrillators to the league.

For more information on Opening Day or the upcoming season, call the Lewisboro Baseball Association hotline at 914-765-8522 or visit its website at www.lewisborobaseball.org. The rain date for the event is Sunday.
