Katonah's Harvey School Falls In Football Opener

KATONAH, N.Y. -- The Harvey School football team opened its season Saturday with a 27-8 loss to Dwight-Englewood of New Jersey.

The D.E. Bulldogs (2-0) got on the board in the first quarter when Dan Terry carried the ball for a 10-yard touchdown and then quarterback Zach Rosen hit wide receiver Dan Reiff on a 22-yard pass play to open a 14-0 lead.

Harvey's defense shut down the Bulldogs in the second and third quarters to keep the game close at 14-0.

Harvey's junior quarterback Wil Levanthal hit Andrew D'Alessandro with a touchdown pass in the third quarter for the Cavaliers only score. Levanthal then made the two-point conversion on a pass to Ricky Hicks.

The Cavaliers' hopes of a late-game comeback were spoiled when Dwight-Englewood scored in the fourth quarter to stretch its lead to 27-8.

Senior fullback Sharif Koonce played well and helped the Cavaliers move the ball in the second half.

The Cavaliers hit the road next Friday to play Avon Old Farms School.
