CROSS RIVER, N.Y. - The John Jay High football team is coming off a 5-4 season that saw the Indians advance to the sectional semifinals.

John Jay beat Sleepy Hollow in the quarterfinals, before ending its season against Eastchester.

Jimmy Clark, in his 15th season as head coach, said that while the Indians lost players to graduation, numbers are up, and so is enthusiasm.

"We're young, and we have numbers for the first time in a while," Clark told Daily Voice during a visit to Indians training camp. "Right now, we're growing, and getting better every day."

Watch the video to see Daily Voice talk to Clark and team leaders Jackson Rieger and Griffin Wallick.

John Jay is set to open the 2016 season Friday, Sept. 2, hosting Yorktown at 7 p.m.
