Harvey Baseball Ends Season in Heartbreaker

KATONAH, N.Y. ? Harvey and Masters baseball battled over three hours Thursday before Masters (Conn.) knocked the Cavaliers out of the Hudson Valley Athletic League postseason playoffs with a 14-12 victory.

Seniors Mike Morra, Mikhyle Stein, Will Schubert and Jason Ecker combined for 11 hits in their final game for the Cavs.

"Their abilities and leadership will surely be missed next season," Harvey coach Mike Rubenfeld said. "All in all, it was the most exciting game of the year, and although the result was not what we had in mind, it was a good game to cap off a nice season for us."

Harvey opened a 2-0 first inning lead on Ecker's two-run homer, and Corey Eisenband drove in two more to make it 4-0.

Masters answered with a seven-run second inning, and the Cavaliers scored five runs in the third inning to go ahead 9-7. The teams exchanged leads and were tied at 11-11 after five innings before Masters took advantage of Harvey errors in the sixth and pushed its advantage to 14-11.
