Dear Katonah-Lewisboro Families,
Having been on the job for two weeks, it is time I reached out to say hello, to invite you to help me get to know the district and community, and to let you know a little about our work this summer.
My goal is to be sure that future decisions are informed by the wealth of knowledge, history, and wisdom that is here. On my first day at work, I sent this invitation out to our entire staff. I’ve already met with a good number of our colleagues and will continue these meetings through the summer and into the fall. Now it is time to invite all of you.
If you choose to join me, you will be given a set of questions prior to our meeting. The core questions are those I am asking all our stakeholder groups: what works well in our schools, what could be better, and where should our immediate focus be?
This listening exercise is incredibly valuable and will help me understand how best to focus my work in the coming year(s). If you would like to meet, simply email or call Mary Anne Carroll at mcarroll@klschools.org or (914)- 763-7003.
Please understand, given the volume of meetings, it may be some time before your meeting can be scheduled. In no way does that mean one meeting is any less valuable than another.
What else is happening this summer? Last week, we held an Administrative Retreat. Despite the title, I believe we moved forward during the two days we spent together as an entire administrative team.
In addition, arriving as your new superintendent means getting quickly up to speed on the necessary work of the summer (curriculum work, technology upgrades, construction projects, revised mandates from the state, emergency management plans, etc.), making sure we’re on track for a smooth opening in September (completing necessary hiring, finalizing schedules and staff assignments, etc.), and getting to know staff and community groups as quickly as possible.
