Katonah-Lewisboro School Board, Support-Staff Union Reach Two-Year Deal

CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- The Katonah-Lewisboro school board and the district’s support staff union have both approved a memorandum of agreement for a new contract, school officials said.

The Katonah-Lewisboro school board and the district's support staff have reached an agreement on a two-year pact that includes wage increases and health insurance benefit contribution increases.

The two sides had been in negotiations since last winter. After the summer break, the board voted on the two-year deal on Sept. 17.

Members of the Katonah-Lewisboro Support Staff Association -- which represents clerical staffers, bus drivers, custodians, and teacher aides, among other employees -- voted in favor of the pact on Sept. 10.

According to school officials, the agreement includes wage increases and health insurance benefit contribution increases for both new employees and new retirees. It also includes a new salary schedule for all newly-hired employees.

The pact’s terms will, the district said in a press release, help maintain the quality of school programs while doing it in “a more sustainable financial manner.”
