The first regular class day is Sept. 2, while Labor Day this year is on Sept. 7.
The calendar was approved by a 6-1 vote. School Board Vice President Jeff Holbrook was the only member to vote against the change.
The school board also approved an agreement with the district's teachers' union pertaining to the first day of school for the academic-year calendar.
September has several days off for students, however. Sept. 14 to 15 are marked as days off due to Rosh Hashanah, while Sept. 23 will be a day off due to Yom Kippur.
The calendar approval was made by the school board at its Tuesday, April 21, meeting.
