Kat-Lewisboro Schools Post Summer Reading Lists

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – The summer reading lists for grades K-5 are now available on the Katonah-Lewisboro School District’s website, www.klschooldistrict.org.

This year’s summer reading lists will incorporate the new Common Core Standards that the state has adopted for English language arts. The Common Core addresses three important areas:

• Students read a balance of informational and literary text
• Students develop reading skills and apply them to increasingly complex text
• Students build vocabulary to access more complex texts

With these concepts in mind, the Katonah-Lewisboro Elementary Library Media Specialists have provided a list of paired fiction and nonfiction books for each grade level for summer reading. For a more extensive list by grade level, Scholastic Summer Reading has provided a selection at www.scholastic.com/summer/.
