CROSS RIVER, N.Y. Four Katonah-Lewisboro School District residents have filed the required paperwork and will now vie for two seats on the board of education in the May 15 election.
The two seats were occupied by incumbents Michael Gordon and Warren Schloat, who announced last month that they would not seek re-election. Both trustees said they felt the board needs new blood and cited a desire to spend more time with their families as the reasons for not seeking another term. Gordon and Schloat each served two three-year terms on the board. Gordon acted as president from 2009 to 2011.
According to District Clerk Kimberly Monzon, the following four candidates filed nominating petitions by the April 16 deadline, earning a place on the ballot: Richard Delin of South Salem, Marjorie Schiff of Pound Ridge, Stephanie Tobin of Waccabuc and Mindy Yanish of Katonah.
A trustees term on the school board runs for three years.
The Daily Lewisboro will provide candidate profiles and platforms in the coming weeks.
