Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones Purchase New Bedford Home

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones recently closed on the purchase of a new home in the estate area of Bedford, Daily Voice has confirmed.

The eight-bedroom Colonial was built in 1895 and has 13.28 acres and 15,458 square feet. The home includes a designer kitchen and spa facilities with two indoor pools, a gym, sauna and steam room.

Additional amenities include an outdoor pool, tennis court, guest cottage with two apartments, greenhouse, collector’s garage and a four-stall barn with outdoor ring, four paddocks and riding trails for equestrians.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones purchased the home for $11,250,000, according to a LoHud.com report.

Douglas has won two Academy Awards. He was named best actor in 1987 for his role as Gordon Gekko in Wall Street and was named best producer in 1975 for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. He has also won four Golden Globe awards.

Zeta-Jones won an Academy award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Velma Kelly in Chicago. She also won a Tony award in 2009 for best actress in A Little Night Music.

The couple was married in 2000. They have a son, 14, and a daughter,11. The couple were living separately last year, but were together last September.

They also owned a six-bedroom, six-bathroom home in Bedford on Guard Hill Road. The home was listed for sale for $8.1 million and sold for $7.9 million. The closing was on Oct. 23, according to the LoHud.com report.
