GREENWICH, Conn. -- For homeowners seeking privacy, luxury and a touch of history, Douglas Elliman's property listing on 42 Lower Cross Road in Greenwich offers the best of all worlds. Situated on ten acres of Greenwich's historical 1600 acre Conyers Farm plot, the 6,100 sq. ft. home was originally built as one of the first properties on the now famous land tract.

Conyers Farm was established at the turn of the 20th century by U.S. Steel founder Edmund C. Converse and served as an operational farm until his death in 1921. After decades of vacancy, the land was purchased by investor Peter Brant in 1980 and divided into 10 acre development plots. Brant's sister, Irene Brant Zelinsky, ultimately settled at 42 Lower Cross Road. She is currently selling the property with the help of Douglas Elliman Real Estate listing agent, Scott Elwell.

The seven bedroom/six bathroom home boasts top of the line construction materials and an impressive eye for detail. The listing includes a formal dining room, library, eat-in kitchen, large master suite, guest areas, fitness studio, family rooms and an attached 3-car garage. Outside, the property features an in ground pool and expansive patio area for enjoying the plot's privacy.

The property also offers reminders of the farm's past, including the ruins of several migrant worker houses dating over 100 years old. “The ruins provided our kids with space to explore; camping out, toasting marshmallows in the still working fire places and other great memories,” said Brant Zelinsky.

Despite its bucolic location, the listing offers easy access to Greenwich town center, New York City and beyond. “Because of the vastness of the original farm, the house's southern location on the tract and its proximity to the Merritt Parkway, it's easy to travel to New York and the town of Greenwich,” said Brant Zelinsky.

Coyners Farm has attracted its share of celebrities since Brant began development; actress Jessica Biel, actor Tom Cruise and basketball player Allan Houston have all called the farm home, while President Obama famously attended a dinner fundraiser in the area in 2012.
