Creative Realtor Plans Horse Show To Market Unique Bedford Home

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Mary “Muffin” Dowdle loves riding horses almost as much as she enjoys real estate. Sunday, Nov. 2, she’ll combine her twin passions and invite others to join her.

Dowdle, of Ginnel Real Estate, has created a unique marketing concept for 550 Guard Hill Road in Bedford. She will host the Riding Realtor’s Horse Show beginning at 11 a.m. There will be three classes of competition -- one for real estate brokers, another for juniors, and a friends, neighbors and buyers class. The day begins with a Hunt Breakfast at 11 a.m.

“I come from a large family,’’ said Dowdle, who said she devised the idea last week. “I’m used to throwing parties for about 500 in four hours or so. It was how I was brought up. We had to do everything quickly and efficiently.”

The goal of the show is to showcase the 12-acre property, which includes indoor and outdoor riding rings and abuts the 200 miles of riding trails in Bedford. Dowdle will ride over on her horse from Pound Ridge, and encourages other horse owners to join her.

Lisa Harrell will be the judge for the horse show, and Dowdle said she expects about 150 guests and nearly 50 horses at the event.

Dowdle promises horse owners will also love the property, which has two barns. The home itself has four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, two half-baths, and 7,234 square feet. Listed at $4,950,000, the property backs up to Pinney Woods Preserve.

Dowdle said she hosted a similar event five years ago. “It was a beautiful horse farm but it was a dreary January day,’’ she said. “I invited everyone for a Hunt Breakfast. We sold the property from that event. This event is for a special property because it has the indoor ring and outdoor ring. I’m inviting everyone to come check it out. There are a lot of fabulous realtors who are riders.”
