Westchester PBA Endorses Terrence Murphy For State Senate

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – The Westchester County Department of Public Safety PBA has added its name to the growing list of public safety organizations supporting Terrence Murphy for New York State Senate.

"After reviewing your position on matters of great importance to our membership, we have concluded that your record or accomplishment and commitment to the law enforcement community are of tremendous importance to the people you look to serve," Michael Hagan, president of the Westchester PBA, said in a recent press release. "We are confident that you will be a fair, honest and effective Senator and a continued friend to the Westchester County Police PBA."

Murphy, a Yorktown councilman,  is the Republican candidate in the 40th Senate District. His opponent is Democrat Justin Wagner. The incumbent, Republican Greg Ball declined to run for re-election.

The 40th district covers Pleasantville, Armonk, Bedford, Yorktown, Briarcliff, Chappaqua, Cortlandt, Lewisboro, Mount Pleasant, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Peekskill, Pound Ridge, Somers and parts of Putnam and Dutchess counties.

"Having the support of the Westchester County PBA is a great honor," Murphy said in a news release. "I have committed myself to working with all law enforcement agencies and officials to create a safe atmosphere for our families and I look forward to doing the same on a statewide basis when I get to Albany."

Other public safety organizations endorsing Murphy’s candidacy include the Affiliated Police Association, the Affiliated Police Associations of Westchester Inc., which includes all the 40th District local PBAs in Westchester, AFSCME New York and its affiliates CSEA, District Council 37, District Council 1707, District Council 66, AFSCME Council 82 and AFSCME Council 35, the Detective's Endowment Association and the Police Conference of New York, the Uniformed Firefighters Association and the Uniformed Fire Officers Association.?
