Woman Faces Check Fraud Charge In Bedford

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- New York State Police charged a woman with cashing nearly $6,000 in fake payroll checks on Tuesday, Dec. 2, according to officials.

Semone Jewell, 23, of Hartford, Conn., allegedly cashed fake payroll checks from Bedford Gravel and Landscape, including a check for $1,900 at the First Niagara Bank in Millerton, police said.

Jewell was arrested and held on $10,000 bail, police said.
