Vista Fire Department Responds To Seven Calls

VISTA, N.Y. – The Vista Fire Department responded to seven calls last week, including two smoke investigations and several ambulance requests.

The fire log for the Week of Aug. 13-19 follows:

Monday, Aug. 13

At 2:46 a.m., the department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on Hemlock Road.  The patient was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital.

At 7:52 a.m., the department received a report of an automatic alarm activation at a business on Smithridge Road at 7:52 a.m. It was determined to have been set off in error.

Thursday, Aug. 16

At 8:31 a.m., the department received a report of a smoke investigation at a residence on Laurel Ridge Road. The department arrived to find heavy smoke in the residence and requested South Salem Fire Department for mutual aid.  Upon entering the residence it was determined that the stove had been left on and there was no fire.  South Salem was redirected to another call, The department vented the structure.

At 8:44 a.m., the department received a report of an unknown fire outside a residence on Elmwood Road.  Firefighters arrived to find the homeowners having a camp-type fire.  They were advised that there is no open burning allowed and the fire was extinguished.  South Salem was advised they could cancel from the location.

Friday, Aug. 17

The department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on East Street at 1:33 a.m. The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital.

Saturday, Aug. 18

At 9:54 a.m., the department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on Lake Avenue. The patient was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital.

Sunday, Aug. 19

At 3:41 p.m., the department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on West Road. The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital.
