Vista Fire Department Responds To Five Calls

VISTA, N.Y. – The Vista Fire Department answered five calls last week, including two for downed utility wires with trees blocking roadways.

The fire log for the week of Jan. 28 through Feb. 3 follows:

Monday, Jan. 28

At 11:28 p.m., the department received a mutual aid request from the South Salem Fire Department for smoke in a residence on Main Street. The call was canceled while the company was en route.

Thursday, Jan. 31

At 6:15 a.m., the department received a report of a tree branch on wires in the area on Laurel Road. The department arrived to find a tree branch down, blocking the road and involved with the power lines. Responders barricaded the road and notified NYSEG and the town highway department.

The department received a report at 6:59 a.m. of a tree down on wires on Mill River Road near the intersection of Smithridge Road. The department arrived and found the road completely blocked by a tree and two broken telephone poles. The department cordoned off the road and notified NYSEG and the town highway department.

Friday, Feb. 1

At 9:33 a.m., the department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on Stone Meadow Drive. The patient was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital with a Westchester paramedic on board.

Saturday, Feb. 2

The department received a request at 4:12 a.m. for the ambulance at a residence on Lake Kitchawan Drive. The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital.
