Vista Fire Department Responds To Five Calls

VISTA, N.Y. – The Vista Fire Department responded to five calls last week, including a lawnmower fire and several ambulance requests. The fire log for July 31-Aug. 5 follows:

Wednesday, Aug. 1

At 10:08 a.m., the department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on Laurel Ridge Road. The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital.

Thursday, Aug. 2

A resident was driven to the firehouse requesting an ambulance at 9:19 p.m. The patient was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital, with the Westchester paramedic on board.

Saturday, Aug. 4

At 4:03 p.m., the department received a report of an automatic fire alarm activation at a residence on Split Rock Road. It was determined that the alarm activated because of smoke from cooking. The smoke was cleared from the residence and the department returned to service.

The department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on Grandview Road at 6:41 p.m. The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital.

Sunday, Aug. 5

At 11:53 a.m., the department received a report of a lawnmower fire at a residence on Tribrook Drive. First responders arrived to find that the fire was extinguished. The homeowner was advised to keep an eye on it for a few hours and to keep it away from any structures on the property.
