Vista Fire Department Responds To 11 Calls

VISTA, N.Y. –  It was a busy stretch for the Vista Fire Department last week as it responded to 11 calls, most of them a request for the ambulance or automatic fire alarm activations.

The fire log for the week of Aug. 20-26 follows:

Monday, Aug. 20

The department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on East Street at 2:46 p.m. The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital with the Westchester paramedic on board.

Tuesday, Aug. 21

At 8:46 a.m., the department received an automatic fire-alarm activation at a business on Smithridge Road, The South Salem Fire Department was dispatched as mutual aid. It was determined to have been activated in error.

At 9:41 a.m., the department received a request to assist the police gaining entry into a residence on East Street. The patient was then transported to Norwalk Hospital.

The department received a report of an automatic-alarm activation at a residence on Lockwood Road at 6:38 p.m. The alarm was set off by cooking. The windows were opened to let the smoke out. The homeowner was able to reset the alarm.

The department received a report of an automatic-alarm activation at a residence on Kitchawan Road at 10:11 p.m. It was determined to have been a malfunction.

Wednesday, Aug. 23

At 4:32 p.m., the department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on East Street. The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital with the Westchester paramedic on board.

Thursday, Aug. 24

At 11:16 p.m., the department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on East Street. The patient refused to be transported to a hospital.

The department received an automatic fire-alarm activation at a residence on Carol Lane at 12:08 p.m. It was determined to have been set off in error by the alarm technician.

At 5:36 p.m., the department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on Smithridge Road. The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital.

Saturday, Aug. 26

The department received a request for the ambulance at 4:59 p.m. The patient was driven to the fire station for assistance and then transported to Norwalk Hospital.

At 11:33 p.m., the department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on Deer Hill Lane. The patient decided not to go to the hospital and signed a refusal. The Norwalk paramedics were on location.
