SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. -- The Vista Fire Department announced its newest line officers for the 2015-16 term, which began Friday and runs until April 30, 2016.

The officers are Chief Jeff Peck, First Assistant Chief Daniel Cruz, Fire Capt. Mike Peck, EMS Capt. Judy Saslow, Fire Lt. Brian Porco, EMS Lt. Deborah Ferman and Safety Officer William Dingee.

Jeff Peck has served as chief since September 2014, having taken over for Dingee. Peck is a second-generation chief in the department, as his grandfather Jack served as chief from 1960-62. Along with his brother Mike, the pair are fourth-generation Vista firefighters.

Dingee served as chief for eight years before stepping aside for Peck and has been with the department for 31 years.

This marks Cruz's 10th year as a line officer with the department and is a second-generation firefighter. His father, Jesus, served with the New York City Fire Department.

Saslow has been EMS captain for two years, having purchased necessary equipment for the department.

Porco and Ferman are first-time line officers. Porco has moved up the ranks quickly, having joined the department at the end of 2010, while Ferman is a 13-year veteran of the department.

The Vista Volunteer Fire Department is at 377 Smith Ridge Road in South Salem. More information is available online at vistafd.org .
