The Lewisboro Police also reported the following incidents:

  • A witness reported seeing a blue Ford pickup noisily spinning its wheels and creating damage to the lawn and driveway of the Old Field Preserve on Saturday. The witness identified the driver and his passenger as young men of around 20 years of age and made a note of the Connecticut license plate. Lewisboro police were unable to trace the plate.
  • Mother Nature took her turn at vandalism when a tree fell across Waccabuc Road on Sunday, blocking traffic.
  • There were several local incidents of larceny during the week. A John Jay student reported that his Apple iPod was stolen from his backpack in the gymnasium locker room during the fifth period on Wednesday.
  • A man visiting a South Salem friend on Wednesday evening glanced out the window and noticed that a car pulled alongside his and stopped briefly. He disregarded the incident until he went outside later and discovered the center console open and his wallet missing. The wallet contained about $100 in cash, a Mastercard debit card, a Visa credit card, his driver’s license and his Social Security card. The following morning the victim contacted police to say that his wallet had been found by an early morning jogger, who returned it to the victim. All of the contents were accounted for, except for the $100 in cash.
  • A car driving north on Smith Ridge Road on Saturday suddenly went out of control and overturned. A southbound motorist who noticed the accident in his rear view mirror did a U-turn to the site and helped the driver get out. State Troopers arrived and determined that the driver should be transported to Northern Westchester Hospital. The Vista Fire Department transported the driver and the Lewisboro police arranged for towing.
  • When Officer David Alfano stopped a vehicle that was speeding along Todd Road on Thursday, he detected a strong smell of marijuana in the car. The driver, a 56-year-old Connecticut resident, said he did have a small amount of marijuana and a pipe. Alfano also noticed the vehicle’s windshield was fractured, so he issued a summons for driving with distorted visibility and an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana.
