Suspect Steals Westchester Woman's ID To Buy High-End Clothes, Police Say

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Police are investigating a pair of incidents that saw a woman’s identity stolen for thousands of dollars in Scarsdale.

A victim said that she was notified the Saks fraud department that a purchase had been made for a woman’s coat for $4.311.10 the day before on the credit card.

A Paddington Road resident reported to police on Saturday that her identity had been stolen and charges had been made on her American Express credit card at Saks.

According to police, the woman said that she was notified on Aug. 10 by the Saks fraud department that a purchase had been made for a woman’s coat for $4.311.10 the day before on the credit card.

While at Scarsdale Police Headquarters, the woman called Saks for additional information regarding the purchase and was informed that a second charge had been made on Aug. 8 for a silk floral dress that cost $1,954.20. The fraud department proceeded to tell police that the order had been shipped to a Paddington Road residence in Scarsdale.

Police said that surveillance video revealed that the package was removed from the front of the residence by an unknown male suspect at 1:53 p.m. on Aug. 10.

A report has been filed and police are investigating the incident. The victim was advised to contact her credit card provider and was given information about protecting personal information from officers.
