BREWSTER, N.Y. -- It took several hours for firefighters to knock down a large, three-alarm brush fire that broke out early Sunday afternoon in Brewster.

The fire, reported just before 12:30 p.m., was on top of a mountain off Acorn Road.

Firefighters from the following departments are on the scene: Brewster, Putnam Lake. Carmel. Patterson. Somers, Croton Falls, Pawling and New Fairfield (Conn).
