According to the Putnam County Courier, Marie Dunn, 49, was struck by a Jeep operated by Eileen Heinz, 75, of Lake Carmel, in the north end of the shopping plaza off of Route 52.

A customer service employee at ShopRite confirmed that Dunn worked as a cashier at the Carmel supermarket but that no one had heard an update on her condition as of 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

Carmel Police Chief Mike Cazzari told The Courier that the driver of the Jeep said she did not see Dunn walk in front of her vehicle.

No tickets or charges were filed against Heinz by police.

A medivac helicopter landed in the parking lot near the movie theater and airlifted Dunn to Westchester Medical Center in “extremely critical condition," according to police.

Putnam County Sheriff's deputies were called to assist Carmel police.
