According to a police report, Claude Helton, 51, was arrested on Long Ridge Road following a routine traffic stop that revealed that his license was suspended and his vehicle lacked an interlock device for a prior DWI conviction.

On Wednesday, Dec. 14, an officer assigned to radar detail on Long Ridge Road pulled over Helton when he spotted him driving with a shattered windshield. Subsequently, the investigation determined that his license had been suspended in New York State. He was also required to have an ignition interlock device installed in his vehicle for the previous conviction, which he never did.

Helton was transported to the Pound Ridge Police Headquarters, where he was charged with aggravated unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle and multiple vehicle and traffic violations. He was released on $250 bail and is due back in court on Monday, Jan. 9.
