Police Say Woman Steals Cigar, Punches Yorktown Clerk

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A 21-year old Brooklyn woman is being charged for robbery in the third degree, a class D felony, after stealing a cigar and punching the when he attempted to stop her, police said.

Shanta Stewart attempted to steal a cigar valued at $2.35 at the Courtesy Mobil station at 1770 E. Main Street in Mohegan Lake on Sunday, Oct. 20, according to police. When the station’s clerk tried to stop her, the defendant punched him, police said.

She was processed at Yorktown Police headquarters, police said.
