The man told police that Connecticut had no jurisdiction in New York and added that “nobody is getting my guns,” police said. As officers left, he tore up the OOP and closed the door, police said. Lewisboro police followed up with Fairfield police.
The Lewisboro Police also reported the following incidents:
Wild Turkey: A wild turkey established itself outside the bathroom window of a Goldens Bridge house on Thursday and disturbed the resident by constantly pecking and flopping about. When Officer David Alfano investigated, he found a male turkey tangled up in the air-conditioning compressor unit. Alfano managed to untangle the fowl and set him free. The turkey ran off into the woods, with no apparent injuries.
Wild Racoon: The next afternoon a Spring Street resident became anxious about a raccoon hanging about her property, sitting on a stone wall. An hour later, the raccoon returned, this time to the front porch. When Officer Michael Armistead arrived, the animal had waddled away into the woods. The raccoon returned yet again in the late evening. Concerned that it might be rabid, Officer Armistead dispatched the animal with his shotgun.
Impounded Vehicles: Several automobiles were impounded during the week. On March 25 Officer Alfano noticed a car with an expired inspection sticker on Route 22. Further investigation showed the driver was unlicensed. The next day, a vehicle sped through a school zone on Route 121. The driver was cited for unlicensed operation and speeding in a school zone. Another driver speeding through the 121 school zone was also found to be unlicensed. All three cars were impounded.
Aided Calls: Among the various calls for aid, were those of an elderly Goldens Bridge man who had difficulty breathing on March 25 and two others feeling generally ill on March 27 and 28. Each was transported to the Northern Westchester Hospital Center by the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
More Aided Cases: On Saturday a disabled man trying to move from a chair to his wheelchair, fell to the floor. Police responded and helped him get settled in the wheelchair. On the previous evening, a man driving through Cross River suffered a heart attack en route, but managed to pull into the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was transported to the hospital.
