Nypd Boosts Tunnel, Bridge Security After Paris Attacks

Although authorities said there were no immediate threats to the U.S., security was stepped up Friday in and around New York City -- including at the Hudson River crossings -- after more than 140 people were reported killed and many more injured in separate coordinated terrorist attacks in Paris.

"No known threat to the city at this time," the NYPD tweeted at 6:40 p.m. Friday, "but until we learn more, we are deploying more police out of an abundance of caution."New York State Police also were on alert.

City police said they were "in close touch with our French police counterparts as well as our FBI partners here, following the tragic events in Paris.

"Out of an abundance of caution, as part of an enhanced counterterrorism overlay, the Counterterrorism Bureau has made the following deployments:

"The NYPD Counterterroism Response Command (CRC) resources as well as the Critical Response Group (SRG), and Hercules Teams have been dispatched to crowded areas around the city...to provide police presence and public reassurance as we follow the developing situation overeas.

"Specific deployments, at French government locations in New York City, were made immediately after the attacks.

"There is no known indication that the attack has any nexus in New York City. We will continue to follow events closely and adjust our deployments accordingly."
