Northern Westchester Woman Charged With Stealing $500,000 From Dentist

MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. -- An office manager at a dentist's office has been charged with stealing $500,000 from her employer over seven-and-a-half years, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.

Cheryl Higgins was charged with stealing $500,000 from a White Plains dentist.

Cheryl Higgins, a 51-year-old Mohegan Lake resident, was arraigned and charged with grand larceny in the second degree (a Class C felony). 

While working at David Sandak, DD of Advanced Periodontics and Implant Dentrisry of Westchester in White Plains, Higgins opened an unauthorized business credit card and using Dr. Sandak’s personal credit card accounts, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. 

Higgins proceeded to pay for her own personal expenses using Dr. Sandak’s funds and to purchase items for herself and her family without permission or authority to do so, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. 

Higgins,, whose bail was set at $100,000, faces a maximum of 15 years in state prison. She is due back in court on August 18.
