North Salem Man Charged With DWI In Putnam

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A North Salem man has been charged with driving while intoxicated and unlicensed operation in the Town of Southeast, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Sheriff Kevin Radovich stopped the man for a traffic violation on Route 6 in Southeast on Saturday, according to the sheriff. 

The deputy arrested the driver, Gary R. Malman, 51, of 993 Peach Lake Road in North Salem, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after field sobriety tests.

The deputy further learned that Malman held a suspended license, and additionally charged the man with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.
