NEW CANAAN, Conn. — New Canaan police are investigating an incident at Waveny Park in which a suspicious male approached a female jogger on Halloween.

At 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, a female jogger was approached while she was running on the trails in Waveny Park, police said.

"The male suspect approached the jogger, tapped her on the shoulder, and made inappropriate remarks that alarmed the jogger," police said.

The suspect was described as a 5-foot-8 white male with short blonde hair and black-framed eyeglasses, wearing a blue hoodie with the Under Armour logo on the chest, shorts and running sneakers.

"Joggers are encouraged to run in pairs and in well-traveled areas," police said. Officers will increase patrols in Waveny Park and in other town parks in the wake of this incident.

Police said this is an active investigation.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is asked to call New Canaan police at 203-594-3500.

All suspicious persons should be immediately reported to police via 911.
