Sissy Mateo-Alvarado, 25, of 6 Hoover Ave., Stamford made 67 fraudulent returns on the two credit cards between Jan. 14 and May 14, police said. She is charged with one count of first-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 7. The total amount is $30,009.50, Sgt. Steven Perrotta said.
Police were notified on May 20 by store security and spoke with Mateo-Alvarado on May 20. She was cooperative with police when they explained they were investigating her and would be seeking a warrant, Perrotta said. She began work with the store in November 2013, Perrotta said.
She is also accused of opening 25 accounts in false names. Employees earn a small amount, often $2 per account when a customer opens an account.
Police have no information that the relative knew that the credit card was being used.
