LEWISBORO, N.Y. Police are investigating a possible prank involving a stone wall one in which they say the pranksters went to great lengths to pull off.
Police were called to a residence on Todd Road on June 26, on a vandalism complaint. The homeowner explained that on June 20 large stones were removed from the stone wall at the end of her driveway and moved to another near-by location. She said she did not call the police at that point.
On the 26th, the resident said she heard people talking in her driveway and went out to investigate. She discovered that six more large stones removed from the wall and relocated. The homeowner told officers she believes it is high school students playing a prank, but is concerned because she has to hire someone to restack the stones. Police said the stones are of significant size and weight and it would take some effort to move them.
Police are continuing the investigation.
The following items were also reported by the Lewisboro police:
Possible scam: On June 26, a Lewisboro police officer was flagged down by an employee of the Cross River Shell station at the intersection of Routes 35 and 121. A state police officer was also on the scene who was investigating a possible scam involving a vehicle that police said could involve a larceny or possession of stolen property. Lewisboro police assisted by detaining the suspect who they believed may have a warrant out of New York City for petit larceny. State police were unable to ascertain the suspects true identity so he was taken to the troopers barracks in Somers for further questioning.
Noise dispute: On June 27, police were dispatched to Grandview Road in South Salem for a harassment complaint. Officers spoke to the homeowner who said his neighbor was harassing him for doing yard work. Police interviewed the neighbor who said there was an ongoing problem with equipment running after 7 p.m. Police told the neighbor that if he hears equipment running in violation of the noise ordinance, he should call them and not intervene on his own.
Stolen Phone: On June 29, police received a report of a stolen iPhone. A Katonah resident said that she was at a deli on Old Post Road in Cross River when she left the phone on the newspaper rack and walked away. When she returned, the phone was missing. The manager was not in and police could not gain entrance to the office to view surveillance camera footage. The investigation will continue.
