Lewisboro Police Investigate Possible Assault At Four Winds Hospital

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Lewisboro police are investigating an alleged assault that took place last week at Four Winds Hospital.

Officers were dipatched to the hospital on Oct. 17, on an harassment and possible assault call. They interviewed a teen-age in-patient and his father who told officers that on Oct. 12 the patient was in a friend’s room when three other patients placed a blanket over his head and began punching him. They told police he was then dragged out of the room and he passed out. Upon regaining consciousness, the patient said he was grabbed once again and dragged further down the hall, banging his head on a door threshold.

The patient was eventually found by hospital staff and treated for rug burns and given pain medication. The staff then informed the patient’s father of the incident and he was discharged the following day to prevent further incidents.

The victim identified the patients who allegedly attacked him and said he had never had a problem with them before. Due to hospital protocol, police were unable to interview the patients without their parents present. Police informed the victim’s father that the investigation would have to be continued and noted that because of the ages of individuals involved, criminal charges would not be filed.

Police said that an internal investigation was being conducted by the hospital staff, but did not know the result of that investigation.

The following items were reported by the Lewisboro police:

On Oct. 16, police were called to a Spring Street farm in South Salem to aid a person thrown from a horse. Police assisted with immobilizing the patient onto a backboard, as well as putting a splint on her right arm. Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps then transported the patient to Northern Westchester Hospital Center.

On Oct. 18, police were called to investigate a possible hit and run accident in front of John Jay High School. The driver’s mother told police that she was not sure if the vehicle struck her so she drove home. The mother and daughter brought the vehicle to police headquarters where officers noted damage to the front bumper and took down their information and filed an accident report. No further police action was needed.

On Oct. 21, police were called to an Apache Circle residence in Goldens Bridge to aid an intoxicated man who was bleeding from the head. Police entered the home and found the victim in bed. Police said there was five empty wine bottles on the floor. They also discovered a large amount of blood on the basement stairs. The victim’s daughter told police she was out walking and when she came back, she discovered the blood and her father’s intoxicated condition. He was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital Center.
