Lewisboro Police Impound Five Vehicles

• On June 24 an auto was stopped for speeding through a school zone in Cross River. The operator was found to be unlicensed, the car was impounded and the driver received two summonses, police said.
• A similar incident occurred in the same location on Thursday. This time the unlicensed driver was speeding through in a Chevrolet truck, according to police. He was issued two summonses and the truck was impounded.
• When a Honda was stopped on Elmwood Road in South Salem on June 25, the driver proved to be unlicensed, police said. Two summonses were issued and the vehicle impounded.
• Again on June 25, a Ford Explorer traveling on Mead Street in Waccabuc, was driven by an unlicensed operator, who received two summonses, said police. The car was impounded.
• After a man stopped in South Salem to urinate beside his car on June 25, a passing police officer approached the vehicle and noticed a strong smell of marijuana, said police. After examining the car, the officer discovered several bags of marijuana plus an assortment of narcotic tablets, said police. In addition, one of the passengers possessed a false New York State Drivers License, which listed her age as 21, though she was 18 years old, said police. The vehicle was impounded and all three individuals were taken to Lewisboro Police headquarters for processing.

Lewisboro Police also reported the following incidents:

• A Bouton Street woman got up on Saturday morning to discover that both the front and rear windshields of her car had been shattered. The officer concluded that a large rock thrown through the rear window had damaged the rear headrest, then bounced off the dashboard and smashed the front windshield. There were no witnesses, but a neighbor described hearing a truck with a loud muffler at about 4:30 a.m.
• On June 24, a Stonemeadow Drive resident discovered that during the night someone had attempted to steal the spare tire mounted on the rear of her vehicle as well as the car's radio. Neither theft succeeded, but the car was damaged and the radio broken.
• A United States Postal Service box, delivered by the mail carrier to a cluster of condominium mailboxes, was torn open and left on the ground Friday. The contents, a kitchen faucet handle, was left behind by the vandal.
