LEWISBORO, N.Y. Lewisboro police issued six traffic violations to an 18-year-old Mount Vernon man who they say sped through South Salem on Saturday before sideswiping another motorist, hitting a utility pole on Route 123 and flipping his car.
Police said that while on patrol on Route 35, an officer saw a 2007 black Chevrolet Suburban attempt to pass another vehicle while traveling eastbound. The officer, who was traveling westbound, said the Suburban nearly hit the vehicle in front of him, so the officer made a U-turn and began a pursuit.
At routes 35 and 123, the officer said, he was stopped by another motorist who told him that his vehicle had been sideswiped by the Suburban, which had turned south on Route 123. The officer continued pursuit on Route 123, and within a quarter-mile found the Suburban overturned in the northbound lane with the motor still running.
Police said the driver had lost control while trying to negotiate a turn and slid into the southbound embankment and hit a utility pole, causing the Suburban to overturn and cross the roadway.
The driver crawled from the vehicle and had only minor injuries. He told the officers that he was late to pick up a client in Ridgefield, Conn., and that he was sorry and it was stupid.
The Vista Fire Department and EMS responded, and the driver was taken to Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut.

Stolen Inspection Sticker: On Friday, Sept. 28, police responded to Estate Motors in Goldens Bridge on a larceny call. Employees told officers that someone had removed a vehicle inspection sticker, valued at $40, from the desk where they are kept. Records show that the sticker has not been officially issued. No further information was available.
Injured Hiker: Police were dispatched to the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation on Saturday, Sept. 29, for a hiker who fell and broke her wrist. When the police arrived, the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps was already there and the hiker was still in the woods. Within 20 minutes, the hiker walked out of the woods by herself. She was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco.
Football Injury: On Sunday, Sept. 30, police were called to John Jay High School to help Emergency Medical Services. A 13-year-old football player had fractured his right leg. The Ambulance Corps took the player and his father to Northern Westchester Hospital.
Unlicensed Driver: While patrolling Elmwood Road on Sunday, Sept. 30, police clocked a vehicle traveling 45 mph in a 30 mph zone. Police said the car had no valid registration and the drivers license had expired. The driver was issued two summonses and the car was impounded.
