LEWISBORO, N.Y. – The Lewisboro Police Department received three separate reports of possible credit and debit card fraud last week.
On Wednesday, Jan. 23, residents on Laurie Lane in South Salem told police that someone had attempted to make an $11,000 purchase at Bloomingdale’s with their credit card. Chase Bank credit card services stopped the purchase. The suspect also had the victim’s social security number, date of birth and mother’s maiden name, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
On Saturday, Jan. 26, a South Salem resident came to police headquarters to make a complaint about unauthorized use of his Wells Fargo debit card. The victim told officers that he was contacted by Wells Fargo to confirm a debit charge of $1,187.39 that was made on Jan. 18. The purchase was made from Sprint Wireless and was unauthorized. The bank issued the complaint a case number and the card was canceled. The investigation is pending.
A South Salem resident called the police department on Saturday, Jan. 26, to report the misuse of her Bank of American debit card. She said that on Jan. 22 someone withdrew $482 from her checking account and then unsuccessfully tried to withdraw $502 on two subsequent occasions. The bank informed the victim it was her responsibility to file a police report, which is now on file. The victim also informed Bank of America’s claims services department, police said.

On Tuesday, Jan. 22, a South Salem resident told police that a pearl ring valued at around $1,000 had gone missing from her home after a carpet installation company had been in the house. She spoke with company officials who advised her to file a police report.
On Friday, Jan. 25, a resident approached a Lewisboro officer during his tour of duty to report a stolen pocketbook. She said she left it in a shopping cart at DeCiccio’s Market while shopping and someone stole it. The pocketbook contained her driver’s license and a little cash.
